Pastor Bill King
He was not only a soldier in the Army, but a soldier of the cross. Walking through this life; God called and he answered. He touched so many lives; with a smile, encouraging words, a helping hand, and truth spoken in love.
A Life Lived For Christ!

May 27, 1932 - February 13, 2002
Pastor Bill King was born in Fairmount, Georgia in 1932. He was the founding Pastor of Harmony Holiness Church. He served as Senior Pastor of Harmony Holiness Church (Rosalind Ave.) from May 1962 - November 1992.
Pastor Bill King worked for G.A.F. Corp. in Joliet when he went to serve his country in the United States Army. While on Christmas break, in Georgia, he met his wife of 44 years. They were married in December 1957. After serving in the Army, he returned to Joliet and his job at G.A.F. Corp., where he worked swing shift while pastoring the church.
Pastor Bill and Sister Jo had four children: Eddie (Debby) King, Darlene (Dick) Johnson, Elaine (David) Counts, and Teresa (Mike) Hicks. They have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sister Jo continues to be a huge part of Harmony Holiness Church. She was the mother of the church for over 30 years and she continues to be an Elder and a blessing to those that attend.
Pastor Bill started a storefront church on Gardner St. in 1962, which eventually moved to Rosalind Ave., where it is today. In 1981 Pastor Bill was diagnosed with a brain tumor that needed surgery. He bounced back fairly quickly, but in 1989, he was told he had a second brain tumor. He never quite recovered from that one and his health declined until he could no longer pastor. He then turned the church over to his Assistant Pastor Willie Sills.

Pastor Willie moved to Joliet from Texas in 1971, at which time he attended Harmony and accepted the Lord under Pastor Bill’s leadership. He became the Young People’s Leader, then the Assistant Pastor in 1975. He was in that position until he was appointed Senior Pastor in 1992, after Pastor Bill resigned due to poor health.
Willie and Sharon are both a part of our Visitation and Care Ministry. This is something that means a lot to them, they enjoy visiting, encouraging, and being there for others.
Willie retired in 2001 from Electromotive in LaGrange after 30 years of service. Willie and Sharon live in New Lenox.
